LIST C





Patricia Urquiola (1961)born in Spain, she is an architect and designer. At her earlier career she worked in showroom, architectural design,after a few years she became the head of a design company; at the mean time she design for different companies as well. Her style is full on unmistakable and feminine, the way she handles form and material is very impressive, and her design is complete with her character. Her signature works include “flower”, “loom sofa”, “chaise”. ”chaise longue”.

Personally I really impress with her “Caroline” series, the design of the furniture is elegant and is full of texture and layer, the height and shapes of the chair is well made as well.








Fernado (1961) and Umberto (1953) the brothers of Campana,they were both famous designers in South America. They were both study in different background, but they have worked into the field of design; their inspiration is came from the everyday scenarios but using unexpected combination of materials or found object such as rubber, strings, furry toy. Etc. Their works based of everyday, ready- made materials and waste products also industrial goods. The brothers have a brilliant way of observation to transform their works into a new contemporary design.

“Our designs were born in the street, from the urban kitsch of the popular quarters and contact with nature,” they say. “Whenever we can, we go back to our farm. Nature revitalises our ideas.”

Michele De Lucchi (1951) born in Ferrara, a mutli side designer, graduated architecture at 1975 and he innovate new design ideas into Alymia and Memphis. He moves between furniture, lighting, interior and architecture. He has a sense of use of colors and playful form it shows on his designs, and he put different element to produce a new conceptual work. One of his furniture “Lido” 1982 with multi-colored wool cushions on black and white patterned laminate base, is a combination of color shape and material. Yet, he is more like a contemporary designer; his works has design for each specific individual to meets their needs from office chair to home furniture and he is shaping the century.




Achille Castiglioni (1918-2002) born in Milan graduated in architecture and he became an notable industrial designer afterwards, he focus on using minimal amount of materials to creating forms with its maximum effect. He is famous by his lighting design also a few pieces from the furniture design as well “mezzadro” a stool redesign by a tractor seat and “sella” made by a bicycle seat “when I use the phone, I like to move around, but I also would like to sit, but not completely” . His works is full or humor and fun it shows he has own particular perceptive of design.

Ludwig Mies van Der Rohe “Mies” (1886 - 1969) a German American who was recognized as one of the pioneering modernism architect and without any academic design training. He had an influential at 1920, the well known “Barcelona chair” become an icon and most recognizable in the 20th century furniture. The use of design material, structure of the chair itself and the X frame support the seat power; the piece was a modernist aesthetic and a reflection of him as well his fastidiousness and his continues innovation. His work is pure and simple and the fabric of the furniture was the result of a handcrafted technique using traditional materials.Moreover the chair was produced in America and had massive produce around the world.

Le Corbusier (1887 - 1965), a Swiss French multifunctional designer includes architect painter, writer, sculptor and furniture designer. He was well known to his modern classic and Bauhaus design into his each design; and as I know his famous architect the Villa Savoye located at France also his other 6 furniture design pieces.


He started his furniture design journey at 1928 where he worked with two other designers Pierre Jeaneret and Charlotte Perriand for their first furniture “Petit Confort ” an armchair made by chrome-plated tubular steel; yet, a design combine with his sense of architectural structure and sculptural style yet articulating the use of space in the interior. His stylish perception has consider every individual needs; therefore to create a multifunctional piece of works from architecture to a tiny furniture, hence his works have been success in the design industry.
